Nellie R. Stevens Holly
Nellie R. Stevens Holly
Reaching heights that make it more tree-like than a shrub, the Nellie R. Stevens Holly evergreen shrub will quickly grow to 15-20 feet tall and 10 feet wide when planted in full to partial sun and watered regularly. An incredible, natural screen when you plant several of these shrubs next to each other in a row, featuring lovely little white flowers in the Spring and bold red/orange ornamental berries produced if a male Chinese Holly shrub is planted nearby, in the cooler months, the Nellie R. Stevens Holly shrub is a gorgeous addition to your garden or yard all year long. The branches are so dense on this stunning Holly shrub that using it to add a barrier between your home, or yard, and the neighbors is just a few handsome plants away. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to care for, so once you establish the root structure in the first year it basically cares for itself.

Hi, Would it be possible to grow a nellie stevens holly and then keep it at no greater than 5 feet tall? I love the holly but dont need it to be 20 feet tall. Would it die if i tried to keep it pruned at no greater than 5 feet tall?
Yes, you can keep a Nellie Stevens holly pruned to 5 feet tall. Regular pruning, ideally in late winter or early spring, will help maintain its shape and size. As long as you prune properly and don’t remove too much at once, the plant will stay healthy and thrive.
Very pleased. Already planted and new growth started.
Beautiful!
