Shipping & Returns

Shipping live plants sometimes has its challenges when dealing with inclement weather but we strive to have every single order shipped out on their scheduled shipping date. Most orders will be scheduled to ship within 1-2 weeks of ordering. Because a plant needs TLC we only ship out on Mondays-Wednesdays to ensure the plants aren’t stationed somewhere over the weekend with no water or sunlight.

Creeping Rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus 'Prostratus') — A low-growing, trailing culinary herb with fragrant blue flowers in winter and spring, excellent as a drought-tolerant groundcover, in rock gardens, or cascading over walls.

Plant Details

  • Botanical Name: Salvia rosmarinus 'Prostratus' (syn. Rosmarinus officinalis 'Prostratus')
  • Mature Size: 6–12 in tall × 4–8 ft wide
  • Growth Rate: Moderate
  • Bloom Color: Pale blue to lavender (winter to spring)
  • Foliage: Evergreen — aromatic, needle-like, dark green

Growing Conditions

  • Sunlight: Full sun
  • Water Needs: Low — very drought tolerant once established
  • Soil: Well-drained, sandy or rocky; avoid heavy clay
  • Hardiness Zones: USDA 8–10

Why Choose Creeping Rosemary?

  • Edible herb and ornamental groundcover in one plant
  • Deer resistant, rabbit resistant, and pollinator-friendly
  • Thrives in hot, dry conditions where other plants fail
  • Beautiful cascading over retaining walls and raised beds

Care Tips

Plant in full sun with excellent drainage — rosemary cannot tolerate wet feet. Do not over-water or over-fertilize. Trim after flowering to maintain shape. In borderline zones, plant near a south-facing wall for extra winter warmth.

General Care Instructions

  • Watering: Water deeply after planting. Continue regular watering for the first growing season.
  • Mulching: Apply 2-4 inches of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk.
  • Pruning: Prune during dormant season to maintain shape and remove dead branches.
  • Fertilizing: Apply balanced fertilizer in early spring for optimal growth.
