Shipping & Returns

Shipping live plants sometimes has its challenges when dealing with inclement weather but we strive to have every single order shipped out on their scheduled shipping date. Most orders will be scheduled to ship within 1-2 weeks of ordering. Because a plant needs TLC we only ship out on Mondays-Wednesdays to ensure the plants aren’t stationed somewhere over the weekend with no water or sunlight.

The Edward Goucher Abelia (Abelia × grandiflora ‘Edward Goucher’) is a semi-evergreen, flowering shrub known for its graceful, arching branches, glossy foliage, and long-lasting blooms. It’s a versatile, low-maintenance plant that adds beauty and structure to any landscape.

Features:

  • Flowers: Produces lavender-pink, bell-shaped blooms with a light fragrance, appearing from late spring through fall.
  • Foliage: Glossy green leaves that turn bronze or purple in fall, providing multi-season interest.
  • Size: Grows to about 3–5 feet in height and 3–6 feet in spread, forming a dense, mounded shape.
  • Growth Habit: Naturally rounded and arching, with a graceful, cascading look.
  • Hardiness: Suitable for USDA zones 6–9, tolerating mild cold and heat.
  • Sun Requirements: Thrives in full sun to partial shade; more sun promotes better flowering.
  • Low Maintenance & Disease Resistant:
    • Drought-tolerant once established.
    • Deer-resistant and pest/disease-resistant.
    • Requires minimal pruning to maintain shape.

Ideal Uses:

  • Garden Borders & Foundation Planting: Adds soft texture and color.
  • Hedges & Mass Planting: Creates a natural, flowing hedge.
  • Containers & Patio Planters: Works well for decorative, low-maintenance arrangements.
  • Pollinator Gardens: Attracts butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds with its fragrant blooms.

General Care Instructions

  • Watering: Water deeply after planting. Continue regular watering for the first growing season.
  • Mulching: Apply 2-4 inches of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk.
  • Pruning: Prune during dormant season to maintain shape and remove dead branches.
  • Fertilizing: Apply balanced fertilizer in early spring for optimal growth.
