George Tabor Azalea
Shipping & Returns
Shipping live plants sometimes has its challenges when dealing with inclement weather but we strive to have every single order shipped out on their scheduled shipping date. Most orders will be scheduled to ship within 1-2 weeks of ordering. Because a plant needs TLC we only ship out on Mondays-Wednesdays to ensure the plants aren’t stationed somewhere over the weekend with no water or sunlight.
Resistant to the heat and sun, but nevertheless a great power, the George Tabor will find itself at home in brightly lit sunny environments where a large pretty bloom is needed.
- SUN & HEAT TOLERANT: Great for environments in which it may be subject to more heat or sun than elsewhere, it’s the right choice for any brightly lit garden.
- RAPID GROWTH: Growing faster than many of its fellow azaleas, this plant can reach an impressive 8 feet tall with the spread to match its height.
- SHOWY SINGLE BLOOMS: Blooming with a very showy light orchid variegated accompanied by some white, the George Tabor adds great ascetic value wherever it’s placed.
General Care Instructions
- Watering: Water deeply after planting. Continue regular watering for the first growing season.
- Mulching: Apply 2-4 inches of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk.
- Pruning: Prune during dormant season to maintain shape and remove dead branches.
- Fertilizing: Apply balanced fertilizer in early spring for optimal growth.

Hi, Can I plan George L. Tabor Azalea in the summer? I bought one from Home Depot and it is looking dead to me even I have waited for a month but nothing coming out. It looks like the dried stick. Should I wait until fall to order this plant from you? Thanks, Ha
George L. Tabor Azalea is best planted in fall or early spring to establish roots before extreme temperatures. Planting in summer can stress the plant, especially in hot climates. If your current plant looks dried out with no new growth after a month, it may not recover. You can try scratching the stem—if it’s green underneath, it’s still alive. Otherwise, it may be best to reorder in fall for better success.

At what temp does this azalea need to be covered in the winter when it is experiencing its first winter?
A George Tabor azalea should be covered when temperatures drop below 25°F (-3.8°C) during its first winter.
