Loropetalum
Shipping & Returns
Shipping live plants sometimes has its challenges when dealing with inclement weather but we strive to have every single order shipped out on their scheduled shipping date. Most orders will be scheduled to ship within 1-2 weeks of ordering. Because a plant needs TLC we only ship out on Mondays-Wednesdays to ensure the plants aren’t stationed somewhere over the weekend with no water or sunlight.
A floral double threat that features not only clusters of rich, pink flowers but also beautiful burgundy foliage, with blooms that appear heaviest in the Spring and taper off thereafter through the season. A gorgeous choice to place in your borders, flower beds, planted around your foundation or in a large container on your porch or patio, simply keep your Loropetalum in full to partial sun and watered regularly to keep the top three inches of soil wet to allow it to reach its full potential of 4-6 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide. The Loropetalum evergreen shrub is bird friendly, is incredibly easy to take care of and is absolutely stunning in color year-round regardless of whether the blooms are present or not. From the deeply dramatic color of the foliage to its amazingly simple care, your yard is calling for the color and fragrance of the Loropetalum.

How far apart should these be planted. I am not trying to make a hedge, just a few bushes along the side of my home.
For individual Loropetalum shrubs, space them 4-6 feet apart to allow proper airflow and growth. Adjust spacing based on the mature size of the variety you’re planting.

Is this plant suitable for north central Arkansas
Yes, Loropetalum (Chinese fringe flower) is suitable for north-central Arkansas. It thrives in USDA Zones 7-10, and Arkansas falls within this range. Loropetalum can tolerate the climate, but it may need some protection during particularly harsh winters in Zone 7 to ensure it survives. Proper care, such as mulching and avoiding exposed locations, will help it thrive.

Hi, I purchased the Loropetalum, the 12.99 version and I would like to know how far apart I should plant them so they form sort of a hedge. I have a lot of bushes to get as I am planting them around the foundation of my home but I started with 10 and then I will get more until they are all around. Are they fast growing? I read that the Purple diamond Loropetalum can be spaced pretty far away from the next one, more than 4 ft, but I read something else in another place and the one that I purchased which I thought was the Diamond, doesn't say> Thanks for any help you can give me, Carol Weber
-
what distance apart should I plant these? I am planting them along my foundation in the back of my home and around a small screened-in porch! Thank you!
For planting loropetalums along your foundation or around a small porch, space them 3 to 5 feet apart. This allows them room to grow and maintain their natural shape while providing a balanced look. If you’re planting a hedge or row, the closer spacing (3 feet) will create a denser appearance.

Where I live in SC, I am seeing these bushes get 12 ft + in height and width. How far is the recommended spacing and what is the maximum allowable for a hedge row?
- Recommended Spacing: For a hedge, plant 5–6 feet apart to allow proper growth and airflow. Maximum Spacing: If you want a looser hedge, space 8–10 feet apart for a more natural look. Growth Potential: Some Loropetalum varieties can reach 12+ feet tall and wide, so pruning may be needed to maintain size.

Hello, We are looking to add either (4) of the regular Loropetalum or (4) of the Purple Diamond Loropetalum as privacy accents to our half-circle drive in Aiken, SC. We were wondering what the differences in the id2 types were as far as color, growing speed, expected mature height & width. Plenty of room side to side to accommodate a wide spread. Thanks Much! Todd & Angee
Here’s a comparison of regular Loropetalum vs. Purple Diamond Loropetalum:
Color:
- Regular Loropetalum: Typically dark green leaves with pink or white flowers.
- Purple Diamond: Vibrant purple foliage with bright pink flowers.
Growth Speed:
- Regular Loropetalum: Grows moderately fast.
- Purple Diamond: Slower-growing compared to regular varieties.
Mature Height & Width:
- Regular Loropetalum: Can reach 8-15 feet tall and 6-10 feet wide.
- Purple Diamond: More compact, maturing at 4-5 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide.
For your half-circle drive, if you want a bold accent and a compact plant, Purple Diamond is ideal. If you want taller, more natural screening, go with the regular Loropetalum.
