Shipping & Returns

Shipping live plants sometimes has its challenges when dealing with inclement weather but we strive to have every single order shipped out on their scheduled shipping date. Most orders will be scheduled to ship within 1-2 weeks of ordering. Because a plant needs TLC we only ship out on Mondays-Wednesdays to ensure the plants aren’t stationed somewhere over the weekend with no water or sunlight.

The perfect choice for a desert style landscape, the Red Yucca prefers full sun, is drought resistant, and looks its best in a rock garden, as an accent piece or in a container you can keep on your porch if you live in less than desert-like areas. The tall, gorgeous spikes of the Red Yucca have deep pink flowers almost year-round on their tops, and the foliage is especially drought tolerant so it always looks green and full. With a moderate growth rate that allows this lovely evergreen cactus plant’s foliage to grow to a maximum size of 3-4 feet tall and wide with flower stalks that grow approximately 4-6 feet high, your gorgeous Red Yucca will surely add the perfect touch of color and elegance to your one of a kind landscape display.

  • will this plant grow in the plains of colorado

  • Hello, I live in zone 7 Virginia. My red yucca has survived the winter. Do I prune it back to produce new growth and vibrancy or leave it alone that new spikes would emerge on there own? Also should I divide it now in Spring to give room for new growth? Should i use a cactus fertilizer? Thank you.

Only remove dead or damaged leaves. New spikes will emerge naturally—no hard pruning needed.

Yes, spring is a good time to divide if the clump is overcrowded.

Yes, a cactus or low-nitrogen fertilizer works well in spring and early summer.

  • Will red yucca winter in zone 6

Yes, Red Yucca (Hesperaloe parviflora) can survive the winter in USDA Zone 6 with some care. Red Yucca is generally hardy down to Zone 5, so it can handle the cold temperatures of Zone 6, but there are a few considerations to ensure it thrives.

Tips for Growing Red Yucca in Zone 6:

    1. Winter Hardiness: Red Yucca is quite cold-tolerant and should survive typical Zone 6 winters. However, in areas with particularly harsh winters or poor drainage, it might need some protection.

    2. Soil and Drainage: Red Yucca prefers well-drained soil. In areas where the soil remains wet during the winter, there's a risk of root rot. Amending the soil with sand or gravel to improve drainage can help prevent this issue.

    3. Mulching: Applying a layer of mulch around the base of the plant in late fall can help protect the roots from extreme cold. However, be sure not to cover the crown of the plant, as this can lead to rot.

    4. Site Selection: Plant Red Yucca in a sunny spot with good air circulation. This will help the plant stay dry and reduce the risk of cold damage.

    5. Microclimate Consideration: If possible, plant Red Yucca in a location that benefits from some protection from the harshest winter winds, such as near a south-facing wall.

With these precautions, Red Yucca should survive and even thrive in Zone 6.
